HAILEE BERNARD HANDEL
MY PERSONAL STUDENT DEVELOPMENT THEORY
When given the opportunity and resources, underperforming, unmotivated, or unexperienced students can rise to an occasion and make a lasting impact on their life. This all begins with someone believing in them without any prior reason to, and assisting them in their perseverance to achieve greatness. I will strive every day to be that someone for the students I have the pleasure of interacting with. By providing a student resources such as a community and sense of belonging, a leadership position, funding for an idea or program, they will be able to take completely ownership of a part of their life, which for many first time in college students might be the first time to do so. Using this theory, I will go out of my way to outreach to the students I have the privilege of interacting with or having under my purview within my position in Student Affairs. This theory will primarily focus on first time in college students, transfer students, and under performing students
