NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY RESIDENCE HALLS (NACURH) - ADVISOR RESOURCE TRAINING (ART)

ART consists of a 29 session curriculum, covering a variety of topics that you can explore at a NACURH Annual or Regional conference near you, and the new experiential requirements that will enable you to apply what you have learned in the classroom, to what you will encounter as an advisor.

QUESTION, PREVENT, REFER (QPR)

The program goal is to train faculty, staff, students, administrators, parents, and community members in how to effectively recognize and refer persons in distress to campus and community resources. As a result of QPR Training, one should be able to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide; be able to recognize the warning signs of suicide and how to apply three steps (question, persuade, and refer) with individuals in distress; have the skills to act with confidence to make a difference.

GREEN DOT TRAINING

Green Dot is a bystander intervention training program that aims to reduce power based personal violence on campus by training students, faculty, and staff how to become active bystanders. Green uses the concept of displacing Red Dots (potential/real acts of violence) with Green Dots (actions taken to eliminate/ prevent Red Dots). Actions could be reactive or proactive.

SAFE ZONE TRAINING

The UCF Safe Zone Series (formerly known as Allies) is a program for UCF students, staff and faculty members interested in showing visual support for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or questioning (GLBTQ) persons at the university.

UCF FERPA TRAINING

Training Objectives: 

  • The definition of education records under FERPA.

  • The definition of directory information under FERPA.

  • Basic best practices for handling sensitive education records.

  • The rights and protections students have under FERPA.

KOGNITO AT RISK STUDENT TRAINING

The Kognito At Risk Training will take one through a series of simulations on how to identify warning signs and respond to students who may be at risk. The employee will practice the necessary steps to take if engaging with a student of concern in a potentially at-risk situation, and learn about the resources available at UCF to help them. certificate can be found here.

Training Content: 

  • Your obligation to understand and comply with the law and policy

  • Benefits of complying with the law and policy

  • What should be reported

  • Negative consequences of failing to make a report

  • Types of suspected misconduct that should be reported

  • Protection against retaliation

  • Importance of asking questions and seeking advice

  • What to do if you are not taken seriously or are treated unfairly because of whistle-blowing
